It will be a tribute to the village and local businesses while also featuring well-known West Virginia motifs.
The mural design is meant to look like a bookshelf for Booktenders. There are records and a record player on the top shelf for Orbit人妖色情片檚 Record Shop, which is just around the corner on Central Avenue. The regionally famous Pink Elephant is also on the top shelf.
The bottom shelf features the in Milton. Within the open book, you can see Mothman peeking out from behind a tree and Bigfoot in the background. There are also a few book titles with connections to Appalachia, like 人妖色情片淒emon Copperhead人妖色情片 by Barbara Kingsolver.
人妖色情片淚人妖色情片檝e lived in Barboursville for a little bit under four and a half years, closer to four years, and I人妖色情片檝e really loved all the things that the city has done,人妖色情片 Wood said. 人妖色情片淚 think that Barboursville doesn人妖色情片檛 get as much recognition as Huntington or Charleston and there人妖色情片檚 a lot of really amazing small businesses here, and we do a lot of really great things for the community.人妖色情片
Wood, who said the building人妖色情片檚 owners support her plans for the mural, said the project will not only bring life to a big blank wall, but also draw people in to Barboursville.
(It人妖色情片檚) something that people would want to stop and see,人妖色情片 she said. 人妖色情片淐ome and support the small businesses, come and see the different events that we have. We might be small but there is a lot to offer up here.人妖色情片
Wood, who also paints the windows at Booktenders, said this mural will be the largest work she人妖色情片檚 ever done and also the largest mural in Barboursville at 20-by-30 feet.
She is relying mostly on crowdfunding to complete the project, with a goal of raising $10,000.
Anyone can donate $5 and receive a sticker of the mural. Donors who give $15 will receive a 5x7 print. There are also opportunities for name recognition in the design, such as on the record player lid or next to a firefly in the storybook. There are also opportunities on the album spines, book designs or record covers.
At minimum, Wood said she needs $4,000 to purchase supplies and get started. Crowdfunding has brought in a little over $100 so far. She is hopeful about finishing the project in the fall but is willing to continue fundraising through the winter and start in spring 2025.
